St John Ambulance is dedicated to helping people, but now it needs the public to help them.
The charity's annual appeal week is underway and they're desperate for more funding to keep up with rapidly changing technology.
Annual costs for St John have risen to almost $45 million.
The organisation wants 44 new vans and they're asking the public to give generously.
St John received nearly half a million 111 calls last year.
"It takes a lot of money to run an ambulance service," a spokesperson says.
"We want to be out there more in the community helping and doing what we do best."
St John collectors will be in communities throughout the country until Sunday.
