Police detain duo over aggravated robberies

Two arrests have been made following investigations into aggravated robberies in Palmerston North.

A 24-year-old was taken into custody in relation to a robbery at The Butt Bucket on Main St, and has now received charges for a string of offences carried out before and during the incident.

The man appeared in Palmerston North District Court today to face those charges.

Police have now found the stolen car used by the offender, but are still making enquiries in the hopes of locating another person they believe to be a co-offender.

Another person has been arrested in relation to another robbery - this one occurring at Rewa Dairy on Botanical Rd at about 4pm on Thursday, July 28.

Police had a search warrant for the offender's property and took him into custody earlier on Saturday. The male they arrested awaits an appearance at the Youth Court on Monday, August 1.

Detective Sergeant Dave Wishnowsky said police were pleased to have resolved the incidents quickly and without any hiccups.

"Assistance from the community has been gratefully received and led us to these great results," he said.

"I hope that having these men in custody goes some way to helping the victims recover and ensure the general public feel safer."
