The hunt is on for a police dog which went missing in the Wairarapa yesterday.
Thames, a three-year-old German Shepherd, went missing while out on a training exercise with his handler in the Totara Creek/Red Creek area west of Masterton.
Police are asking trampers, local farmers and outdoor enthusiasts in the area to keep an eye out for the dog.
Teams stayed in the bush overnight to find the dog, calling for him and searching the main tracks and dense bush.
It is hoped Thames will head down the mountain and follow stream beds to safety.
