Police say the glider pilot who crash-landed at Tauranga Airport on Sunday passed away yesterday in Waikato Hospital.
Katikati man Gavin Harvey, 40, was the only occupant.
"Our thoughts are with Mr Harvey's family, friends, colleagues and the gliding community following this tragic accident," says Senior Sergeant Andrew Mortimore of Waikato police.
The matter has been referred to the coroner.
The Civil Aviation Authority is also investigating the crash.
