Police seize nearly $500,000 in meth and cash

Police in Auckland have seized large amounts of methamphetamine and nearly $400,000 of cash in a major operation against organised crime.

Operation Disruption, which concluded this week, targeted organised crime and related offending with 11 people arrested.

One person was found with close to $400,000 in cash.

Police are also investigating a large amount of electronic goods found in the operation, believed to be stolen. Police also seized ammunition for a variety of firearms.

Four people have been charged with possession of methamphetamine for supply, all been remanded in custody.

Detective Inspector Kevin Hooper says Operation Disruption is a continuation of the police's focus on organised crime and drugs.

"We know organised crime and drugs are a driver of crime, and cause social and financial harm to communities," says Insp Hooper.

"It's satisfying when we can help remove harm from the streets."

Police plan to keep targeting the methamphetamine trade as a priority.
