Two men have been arrested for an aggravated robbery at a dairy in Porirua on August 6.

The incident left the dairy owner shaken and with several knife wounds to the back of his head and neck.

Both men appeared in Porirua District Court on Friday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson says the level of violence handed out on this occasion was extreme and a real cause of concern for police.

"We were determined to identify those responsible, hold them to account and protect the community from them," he said.

Det Snr Sgt Ferguson said some "very brave individuals" helped them find the people responsible for the crime.

"It's fantastic when the community and police are able to work in partnership to solve and prevent crimes from reoccurring," he said.

A 15-year-old-boy was spoken to in regard to the incident and has been referred to Youth Aid.
