Police are questioning early morning commuters in Wellington today after the violent death of a 33-year-old woman in Tawa.
The body of Amanda Taufale was found by a relative yesterday morning in a house on Sunrise Boulevard in Tawa.
Thirty-eight-year-old Ernest Smith has been arrested and charged with murder.
Smith's late-model Toyota Corolla - registration GMB108 was found abandoned at Takapu Road Railway Station this morning, after police had been searching for him.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam says police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death at this stage.
"I know this will come as a relief to Amanda's family," he said.
"The investigation team is still working hard to understand the exact events leading up to Amanda's death."
Police will not release any more information until a post mortem is completed tomorrow.
