Two new schools are going to be built in Rolleston, Education Minister Hekia Parata has announced.
It's part of the government's $1 billion programme to restore Christchurch's education system after the earthquakes damaged or destroyed many schools.
Ms Parata says Rolleston's population is growing and the new schools will take the pressure off Clearview Primary, Rolleston School and Lincoln High.
One will be a primary school in West Rolleston and the other a secondary school located in Rolleston's recreation precinct.
The primary school will open in 2016 and the secondary school in 2017.
