A new two-lane running track around the outside of Wellington’s ASB Sports Centre will be officially opened this week.
The 400-metre track is made of polyurethane with rubber granules on the surface, at a cost of $123,000 to install.
It completes the $47 million complex and will be opened on Wednesday by Mayor Celia Wade-Brown.
The track will be a community asset and can be used for “everything from buggy walking to jogging to getting fit for sport", Ms Wade-Brown says.
ASB paid for the track as part of their sponsorship of the centre.
