Police say they are no longer looking for anyone in relation to  a reported sexual assault of a schoolgirl in Hagley Park - but no arrest has been made.

However, police say they are still continuing to investigate the incident that happened on Wednesday evening despite no longer looking for a suspect.

It is reported the 16-year-old was assaulted sometime between 3:30pm and 8:00pm.

The victim was wearing her school uniform at the time of the assault.

Police say they are no longer trying to identify anybody in relation to the incident and believe this was an isolated incident.

There is no on-going risk to the public but continue to warn people walking at night to remain in well-lit areas for their own safety.
