A pregnant Auckland woman has accused a beauty salon of supergluing her eyes shut and cutting them open with scissors.

The salon is allegedly refusing to offer a refund over the botched eyelash extension job, and told her she should have "done your research" before choosing them.

Mother-of-two Sarah Tyson took to Facebook to "raise awareness that this is a public health concern that needs to be regulated by the Government".

"When I couldn't open my eyes the lady pulled my eye lids apart with her fingers, and when she couldn't pull them apart with her fingers, she cut my eyes open with scissors."

The day after having her eyes cut open, she says the glue hardened and she was unable to close them.

"They started swelling and glue and [pus] started to come out of my [tear ducts]," she wrote in a public post shared nearly 5000 times.

Ms Tyson has since gone to a "professional" to get the hatchet job fixed. She says they visited the salon, which Newshub has decided not to name just yet, and was told by the manager they were "stupid" for trusting their untrained staff.

"I said I guess my mistake was assuming if you go get beauty treatments done at a salon in the middle of the mall they would have proper training and be licensed," wrote Ms Tyson.

The manager of the store allegedly told Ms Tyson licences weren't needed to apply lashes.

"That alarmed me," wrote Ms Tyson. "I thought how can that be possible? That would mean these ladies working in a salon putting glue and lashes on are not aware of the health hazards of what they are doing. I was blown away."

Auckland Council regulations require beauty salons to have a licence.

Newshub is attempting to contact Ms Tyson and the salon for a response.
