Police are looking for a kayaker missing on the Waikato River, believed to be without a lifejacket.
The man, in his 20s, was heard yelling for help while floating down the river at around 5:10pm on Wednesday and a boat was launched to rescue him.
The blue and white kayak was recovered, but the man remains missing.
Police are continuing to search for him but say the man may have exited the river on his own.
He was wearing black shorts and a black t-shirt, but police don't believe he was wearing a lifejacket at the time.
They ask for anyone who knows where he is, or saw him on the water or nearby, to contact them on (07) 858 6200.
