The two men accused of murdering Shalvin Prasad have appeared in the Manukau District Court this morning.

A family member who was overcome with emotion had to leave the courtroom during the appearance.

Bryne Permal and Shivneel Shalil Kumar, both from Papatoetoe, are jointly accused of murdering Mr Prasad, whose body was discovered on fire in a South Auckland park on New Year’s Eve.

Image suppression for both men has been continued until their next court date, April 22.

Mr Prasad withdrew $30, 000 from his bank account just hours before he disappeared on January 30. His body was discovered on fire at 6:30am on January 31 by a member of the public, about five metres away from McRobbie Road.

Police believe Mr Prasad was still alive when he was set alight.
