A man who was shot in the Auckland suburb of Three Kings is now in a stable condition after surgery.
The 51-year-old was shot in the leg at around 10pm last night during an altercation with two other men at a house on Hayr Road.
It is believed the two men responsible took off in a silver 1996 BMW saloon stolen from outside the house shortly after the shooting.
Police are appealing for sightings of the car and say the offenders are armed and dangerous.
