A 22-year-old man is in a critical but stable condition in Middlemore Hospital after a brutal stabbing in south Auckland.
The man has undergone surgery for multiple stab wounds he received during a fight at a house on Carter Pl, Manurewa, around 10pm on Sunday.
While the victim was being driven to the hospital by his girlfriend, she was asked to pull over and wait for ambulance staff to arrive. They waited at the McDonald's restaurant on Great South Road.
The man was then taken to hospital.
Police are working to identify those involved and figure out what happened.
