The man who pulled women's teeth out using pliers during sex has been found guilty on six assault and indecent assault charges.

But Philip Lyle Hansen, 56, was found not guilty on four others which included rape and assault, The New Zealand Herald reports.

A jury of nine men and three women reached their verdict in the Wellington District Court this afternoon after a 10 day trial. The trial centred around four women in which Hansen had either been married to or in relationships with.

Jurors heard evidence from the women that Hansen used pliers, and in one case a screwdriver, to take the women's teeth out because he liked "fat, gummy women".

The defence argued the women had consented and he never meant to hurt them. The women were also accused of ganging up on him with their complaints.

The offending occurred over a 20 year period from 1988 to 2011.

Another charge of male assaults female was dismissed by Judge Bruce Davidson.
