Thousands of people are expected to attend today's funeral for one of the victims of the Bethlehem College minvan crash in Kenya.
Nineteen-year-old Caitlin Dickson, who was a former student at the Tauranga college, died when the vehicle she was travelling in crashed and rolled into a ditch,
She was part of a group on a school volunteer trip in the Afircan nation when the tragedy occured.
Since the accident, friends and family have paid tribute to the victims, and at an emotional press conference last week friend Lydia Hollister-Jones spoke of the courage of Ms Dickson in her last moments.
“I believe that in her final moments she was telling people to go and help the other people, which just really shows the kind of person that she was,” she said.
Ms Hollister-Jones described Ms Dickson as a “selfless” person who was always looking to serve others.
“She was one of those people that you can laugh with, but you can really cry with and that you can walk through life with.”
School parents Brian and Grace Johnston, along with the Kenyan driver of the van, also died in the crash.
A joint funeral for the Johnstons will be held on Saturday.
