An estimated 3000 people are marching the streets of Tauranga in protest at Government cuts to early childhood education.

Four hundred million dollars is being slashed from the sector, with providers now forced to pass on the shortfall with increases in fees.

Teachers, parents and early childhood workers are among those voicing their anger at the rally today.

Tauranga kindergarten teacher, Nadine Hansen says the Government is showing the industry an incredible lack of respect.

Ms Hansen says the funding cuts will impact around 2000 services and over 90,000 children.
