A toddler has drowned in Hawke's Bay this afternoon after attempts to resuscitate the three-year-old were unsuccessful.
The toddler was with family about 400m from the patrolled area at the beach on Ocean Beach Rd in Hastings.
Lifeguards were called and attempted CPR on the toddler before ambulance and a helicopter arrived.
The body has been flown to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
