Creepy clown involved in shocking Christchurch robbery

A trio of robbers, one hiding behind a creepy clown mask, took more than $5000 worth of tobacco products from a Christchurch dairy, along with $300 cash in an early-morning robbery.

The incident happened at the Christchurch Challenge Station on Opawa Rd at around 3:45am on Tuesday as the man behind the counter was reading the paper, Fairfax Media reports.

The ordeal was captured on CCTV.

Police say two people have been arrested over the robbery, while they are still searching for the third.

The crime is part of a recent spate of robberies over tobacco products at dairies, alcohol shops and petrol stations.
