Traffic will be backed up for some time in Upper Hutt after a truck jack-knifed blocking both lanes this morning.
Police and emergency services are at the scene on Moonshine Bridge, State Highway 2.
Motorists have been warned of significant delays until the road can be cleared.
They did not have information about whether anyone was injured.
The New Zealand Transport Agency says northbound traffic should use Fergusson Dr, while drivers heading south should use Moonshine Rd.
