Two men have been arrested after police intercepted large qualities of meth and MDMA sent from China in two separate operations.

Around $200,000 worth of methamphetamine sent to an Oamaru address was intercepted by customs.

Two hundred grams of meth, or P, was thought to be sourced through the internet and was sent from China.

This interception follows -- and is linked to -- a previous seizure of 102 grams of P, valued at approximately $100,000, last week.

A 22-year-old man was arrested in relation to that seizure and is now facing charges of importing a class A drug and possession of a class A drug for supply.

A separate operation resulted in 56 grams of MDMA being intercepted before reaching its destination in Dunedin.

These drugs were also from China and sourced through the internet.

"If these drugs had reached their intended destination they would have had a significant negative impact on the local communities," says Detective Senior Sergeant Malcolm Inglis.

"Police and Customs are committed to disrupting the supply chain and these interceptions show our efforts are working."
