Prime Minister John Key was forced to correct the record after misleading Parliament when questioned on a text exchange with Whale Oil blogger Cameron Slater.
Asked in a media scrum on Wednesday whether he had been in contact with Slater regarding the Chisholm report on Judith Collins, Mr Key said he had not.
In Parliament, Labour MP Megan Woods also asked Mr Key whether he had communications with Slater, between November 23 and 25 regarding the Chisholm report or the Inspector-General's inquiry.
Mr Key initially denied this, but later changed his answer.
