The volcanic alert level on White Island has escalated from level one to three, signifying a minor volcanic eruption.
The aviation colour code has also changed, from green to orange.
This is because there was an eruption between 9:30pm and 11pm last night.
There has been no activity since, but last night's eruption was accompanied by "moderately elevated seismic activity" which is now back to normal.
The eruption left material over north side of the crater floor and up onto north crater wall.
