A major slip in the Waiōeka Gorge tonight has forced the closure of SH2 between Opōtiki and Gisborne.
Motorists who need to make the trip will be forced to extend their travel time by at least three hours using SH35.
The next update on the highway's condition isn't expected until 9am tomorrow morning.
