Wellington has been rattled by a light earthquake just before midday.
The 4.4 magnitude quake was centered 25km north-west of Wellington at a depth of 53km.
Although it was considered light, it was enough to get buildings shaking.
It was reported being felt strongly across the lower North Island and upper South Island.
