The deep south will have a little more deep-fry on Monday as Wendy's opens its doors to Dunedin.

The Anderson's Bay Rd restaurant replaces Hornby in Christchurch as the southernmost Wendy's in the world and will offer 54 jobs to locals.

Wendy’s NZ chief executive Danielle Lendich says the company constantly sees requests for a Dunedin outlet on Facebook.

"We've been wanting a presence here for a long time, but the process has taken a bit longer than expected," she says. "Finding the right location has been key."

Ingredients will be sourced locally with the outlet's burger buns made in Dunedin and cheese, eggs and produce coming from the wider South Island.

The restaurant will host 50 seats, general and group seating and a Drive Thru.
