Whanganui boy asks police to help find lost ball

A young boy in Whanganui determined to find his red ball has turned to the police.

The six-year-old even created a wanted poster to help police in their pursuit.

A post to the Central District Police Facebook page on Tuesday claims the boy lost the ball when he unintentionally kicked it over the fence.

The boy last saw the ball being picked up by a woman and put in a silver car. It was at this point the boy reported the missing ball to the police.

Police have bought the kid a new ball to play with while they work on the case.

Anyone with any information on the ball's whereabouts is asked to get in touch with Whanganui police or drop it off to the local station.

"In case you're worried that this job might distract us from getting to the bottom of serious crimes - don't worry, we're doing that too," police say.

"To this kid, his ball is everything."
