Invercargill police are investigating an overnight assault, which left a 40-year-old man hospitalised.
The incident occurred around 2am near the Dee St and Esk St intersection and a man is being interviewed by police.
Police are appealing to the public who may have witnessed the assault outside the Night & Day store to get in touch via (03) 211 0400.
