A former Supreme Court judge believes the family court system and protection orders need a major revamp.
Bill Wilson is the chair of millionaire Sir Owen Glenn's inquiry into domestic violence and has spoken out ahead of the release of its first report tomorrow.
Mr Wilson says it is clear that changes must be made in the Family Court.
"The 500 or so victims of abuse and frontline workers who spoke to the inquiry were in far too many cases critical of the Family Court procedures," says Mr Wilson.
Mr Wilson says the number of cases where women are being hurt by men they have protection orders against is far too high.
