Did Key lie, or is Dotcom bluffing?

One of the lines from yesterday's face off between Prime Minister John Key and Kim Dotcom was still reverberating today.

Did Mr Key lie, or is Dotcom bluffing?

The Prime Minister challenged the Mega-Upload man to produce the evidence if he has it.

And Labour suggested that if he did, Mr Key would have to resign.

Kim Dotcom was trying to make Mr Key sweat, saying he has embarrassing proof Mr Key knew about him well before the raid in January last year.

Mr Key has always denied this, and he denied it again today.

"He lied to all New Zealanders when he said he didn't know about me," said Dotcom.

Only one of them can be right, and Labour even implied today that Mr Key should resign if he's wrong.

"Does he believe that if a Prime Minister does not tell New Zealanders the truth about a matter of public interest, he should resign," said Labour MP Grant Robertson.

Winston Peters is hunting Mr Key on this, as he believes Dotcom.

"I don't just believe it, I know it," he said.

And Dotcom dropped a big hint on Campbell Live that he'd been talking with whistle-blower Edward Snowden's camp, no doubt in search of evidence that New Zealand is complicit in the prism spying scandal.

So it's over to Dotcom with the evidence on Mr Key, which he needs to put up. If he comes up short, he's the one who'll be embarrassed.

The extradition hearing is next year, in the election year.
