In a series of tweets on Thursday evening Kim Dotcom alluded to plans to take part in the 2017 election campaign.

In an address to the media Mr Dotcom said "the beauty about my new plan is that media bias and character assassination won't work" before claiming that he has "figured out how to get the youth to vote in 2017".

"I'm getting ready for 2017 NZ election. This time I'll spend far less, corrupt media won't stop me, will change Govt with brilliant plan!"

"I was a political amateur. Now I understand their game and how to win. Watch me!" Mr Dotcom said.

In 2014, Mr Dotcom set up the failed Internet Party which later joined forces with the Mana Movement in a bid to get a seat in Parliament.

The marriage was disastrous, with Mana leader Hone Harawira losing his Te Tai Tokerau seat to Labour's Kelvin Davis.

Newshub has contacted Mr Dotcom to elaborate on his plans.
