Key on Iraq war: 'Hindsight's a good thing'

Fallout from the UK's Chilcot report has extended to New Zealand, with Prime Minister John Key facing questions over his apparent support for the war in Iraq.

Mr Key was an Opposition MP when the then-Labour Government decided against committing frontline soldiers.

That move led Mr Key to describe New Zealand as "missing in action". Today he was asked if he is on the wrong side of history.

"No I don't think so, hindsight is a good thing," he says.

Mr Key also said New Zealand has an independent foreign policy and makes decisions based on what the Government believes to be right.
