Key to meet UK PM Cameron post-Brexit

Prime Minister John Key will be meeting outgoing UK Prime Minister David Cameron next week following the Brexit vote.

It'll be part of a wider official trade trip to Europe and Indonesia between July 8 and 20.

Mr Key says the informal meeting with Mr Cameron will work to "reinforce both relationships now that Britain's referendum decision has been made".

Meetings in Brussels, the home of the European Union, will also be held "if the necessary arrangements can be made," Mr Key says.

Mr Key will meet Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi in Rome before heading to Paris to meet French President François Hollande and Prime Minister Manuel Valls.

In France, Mr Key will also be taking part in Bastille Day commemorations, which coincide with the 100-year anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.

More than 80 New Zealand Defence Force personnel will march in the parade.

On his way back to New Zealand, Mr Key and Trade Minister Todd McClay will lead a business delegation to Indonesia to help increase economic and political links.
