The Conservative Party is hoping for a boost in support after holding its annual conference at the weekend.
The party's opposition to the Marriage Equality Bill's given it a higher profile lately, and a new TVNZ Colmar Brunton poll has them one point behind the Maori Party on 2 percent.
“We as New Zealanders are actually not fully in charge of our country any more. We’ve seen that in the referendum where we voted, we wanted less MPs, we wanted tougher law and order, we didn’t want the anti-smacking law, and yet in all those occasions the Government felt that it could tell us New Zealanders ‘ah, sorry, you guys are wrong’,” Conservative Party leader Colin Craig told Firstline this morning.

Mr Craig says most people are worried about economic issues, rather than social ones.
The Conservative Party polled at 2.65 percent in last year’s general election, under the 5 percent threshold required in order to receive a seat in Parliament.
