The Maori Party's doors are open to former boxer David Tua - but co-leader Tariana Turia's suggesting he start his own Pasifika Party.
Informal talks are currently taking place to see what role Mr Tua could play - and Ms Turia says if he's genuine, then he may stand as a candidate.
But she's also floated another option: start your own movement.
"I think there is a place for a Pasifika party here in Parliament. When you think about the numbers of Pacific people, it's probably a great time for them to be sitting down between themselves and thinking about their own best interests," Ms Turia says.
There have been numerous Pasifika-focused parties in the past, but none have made it into Parliament.
