The week in politics - July 24, 2014

The leaders of our two biggest political parties are taking contrasting stances on apologising this week.

The Prime Minister hasn't felt the need to offer apologies or explanations about anything, while Labour leader David Cunliffe is owning up to a string of gaffes.

Meanwhile National MP Claudette Hauiti has resigned in disgrace – but why? We know it has something to do with overspending, but we don't know exactly how much as the National Party won't tell the public.

Hauiti has so far admitted to spending $200 on a trip to Australia, and has paid it back, but sources say it's much more than that. The bottom-ranked list MP will keep her seat until the election on full pay.

And the slogan #TeamKey has taken on an all new meaning with today's edition Rugby News featuring the Prime Minister wearing an All Black jersey, standing in front of Richie McCaw. It's an obvious Photoshop, but is it also a step too far?
