This week in politics - May 8, 2014

Thursday 8 May 2014 10:18 a.m.

It can't come soon enough for the Justice Minister. Judith Collins is on leave today after her ongoing scandal spiralled out of control this week.

But she wasn't the only one creating more fires for the Prime Minister - there was further fallout from the Maurice Williamson police phone call and the uncovering of the National Party's 'Cabinet Clubs'.

But the biggest news this week really has been Ms Collins' public meltdown.

So what broader questions does the Oravida scandal raise for John Key's Government?

And what's the deal with the Government's fundraising events known as Cabinet Clubs?

Finally, why has Donghua Liu, the man at the centre of the Maurice Williamson police interference case and National Party donor, been getting visits from Immigration Minister Michael Woodhouse?

3 News political editor Patrick Gower has the details – watch the video.
