Video: John Key booed at Big Gay Out

Prime Minister John Key has been booed off the stage at Auckland's Big Gay Out festival.

Mr Key's speech lasted less than a minute, with anti-TPP protestors drowning him out, prompting him to leave the stage.

The gay pride festival kicked off at midday today at Coyle Park in Point Chevalier.

The festival features bands, performers, a beer garden, dance tent, more than 100 market stalls and free and confidential STI and HIV testing.

Security was tight for the Prime Minister's appearance after a Waitangi incident in which a protester flung a sex toy at National MP Steven Joyce.

The event sponsored by Durex is due to wrap up at 7pm.
