The New Zealand Barbarians will have the unusual experience of facing a Haka rather than performing one when they play the Maori All Blacks tomorrow night.

Captain Brad Shields said it was something the team had discussed as not many of the players had faced a Haka without doing one back.

"It'll be different. It's about trying to knock that emotion on the head in the first 20 minutes and try to nullify that. It's going to be rough, it's going to be tough but it's going to be a good spectacle," Shields said.

In a World Cup year, the match is also vital for players on both sides to push for higher honours.

Shields says Barbarians winger and Hurricanes teammate Cory Jane is especially keen to get out on the field and prove his fitness after battling a hamstring injury.

Wet and windy weather is forecast for Eden Park tomorrow night, but the Barbarians are still keen to play the running rugby the side is known for.

"It might be a little bit more close contact game, but still, if the ball is there to use, guys have played Super Rugby all year and every one's got skills. Hopefully we'll still be able to use it," He said.
