The All Blacks were comprehensive winners in the first of the weekend's trans-Tasman match ups.

Their 28-point win to clinch the Bledisloe Cup marked yet another milestone for Richie McCaw, who played his record-breaking 142nd Test.

It also saw the timely return to form of Dan Carter.

The Carter versus Quade Cooper battle was an interesting sidelight in a dominating All Blacks victory last night.

"To have a performance like that, both as a team and individually, is pretty special," says Carter.

"It was vintage Dan Carter," says All Blacks coach Steve Hansen. "In the sheds he has a smile as wide as the Grand Canyon."

On the flipside, Cooper had a night to forget and was gone from the game in the 48th minute. On a ground where he has struggled in the past, there was a typically Eden Park send-off.

"It's not hard at all [to take the crowd out of the equation]," says Cooper. "We are professionals and have the mind-set to block that out."

Already Wallabies coach Michael Cheika has said that Cooper will go to the World Cup.

"I thought he played in good position and made some good plays before he left the field," says Cheika.

During his sin-binning, the All Blacks raced away with two quick-fire tries, beating the Wallabies 41-13.
