Former New Zealand Breakers guard Cedric Jackson has signed with Melbourne United.

The Breakers announced last week that the three-time NBL Championship player would leave the club for a higher offer, and Melbourne have now confirmed his signing.

Jackson said Melbourne coach Dean Demopoulos was a key factor in his decision making.

"Coach Dean was the reason I wanted to sign with Melbourne. We had a quick conversation after the first round of the play offs and I picked his brain a little bit," Jackson said.

"We then caught up again during the off season in the US and we had a good conversation. He had a good vibe about him as a person and coach.

"With both of us sharing prior NBA experience I think he has what it takes to relate and elevate my game as a player."

Jackson is excited about join a roster he believes can form a dynasty in the NBL.

"You have a highly talented roster that has proven to be a dominant force in this league; capable of winning multiple championships. I think I will bring championship experience and leadership to the team and also high energy on offense and defense."

Jackson is the only player in NBL history to lead the league in assists in his first four seasons in the League

The 30-year-old is the only current NBL player to have put up a triple-double.
