Dagg – Ko Dream Team at Pro-Am

All Black fullback Israel Dagg is back on the sports field, though his return to rugby will still be some months away.

Today he was playing the Pro-Am (professional and amateur competition) at the New Zealand Open at Clearwater with his old mate and world number one Lydia Ko.

The pair are great mates - and it was their video together that announced to the world that Ko would be turning professional in 2013.

Dagg reckons he plays to about a 12 handicap and he says today was his first hit since he underwent shoulder surgery.

He injured himself in Hawkes bay's Ranfurly shield game against Auckland. The injury occurred not long after he failed to make the All Blacks world cup squad.

Dagg has done plenty of pre-season training with the Crusaders - including the side's traditional hill runs on the Port Hills - but says he won't be rugby ready till at least April.

Ko meanwhile was warming up for the Open which starts tomorrow. The two time winner is everyone's pick to make it three this weekend, and her presence always ensures a decent sized crowd will be on hand to support her.
