British heavyweight boxer Dereck Chisora has paid a heavy penalty for throwing a table during the press conference for his fight with Dillian Whyte.

The British Boxing Board of Control has withdrawn the British title, currently held by Whyte, although it will still be a heavyweight title eliminator for Deontay Wilder's WBC ttle.

The pair were involved in a war of words before Chisora completely lost his cool and sent the furniture flying towards his opponent.

Chisora claims he was responding to threats by Whyte to attack him after the contest on Sunday morning, on the Anthony Joshua vs Eric Molina undercard.

Chisora will be banned from boxing for two years if he commits another offence and was fined just under $44,000.
