Dixon starts historic month with seventh place finish

3 weeks out from the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, Scott Dixon has finished seventh in the Road course race at the famous venue.           

Dixon, who qualified on the fourth row for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis,  struggled to crack the top five throughout the 82 laps,  and was fortunate to finish in the top ten after mid race mechanical issues.

The race was dominated by the red hot Simon Pagenaud, the pole sitter led 57 laps on his way to a third consecutive victory of the season.

Helio Castroneves finished in second with James Hinchcliffe rounding out the podium placing’s.

The Frenchman extends his lead in the championship to 72 points ahead of Dixon, Juan Pablo Montoya and Castroneves.

Qualifying for the Indy 500 begins next weekend with the race set to go Monday May 30th (NZ time).
