Top drifter 'Mad Mike' Whiddett won the penultimate round of the New Zealand Championship last weekend.
But chasing the title took second place today as the Aucklander tackled the country's highest road sideways.
It was Whiddett's first time tackling the Crown Range's 10kms and 47 corners reaching speeds of up to 235km/h.
Shaun Summerfield was there to catch the action.
