Eric Murray may not have decided on his rowing future yet - but the sport is still very much in his blood.

The double Olympic champion is off to Tahiti this weekend to promote the sport in French Polynesia.

New Zealand company Concept 2, has already sent more than a dozen rowing machines to the islands, where rowing enthusiasts are hoping to help the grow the sport in the region.

They'd eventually like to have their own rowing programme there, as currently any athlete who has aspirations of being an Olympian must be part of a French programme, and compete for France.

Murray will coach children on the ergs, talk about his experiences in the sport, and will also get back in a boat for the first time since winning Olympic Gold in Rio.

That might be the easy part - the double Olympic champion has also been entered in a Waka Ama race, where he'll paddle 20 kilometres in open water.
