The Wellington Phoenix appear to have pulled off their second major signing for next season.
Sources in Australia have told Newshub the club have signed Brazilian attacking midfielder Guilherme Finkler from Melbourne Victory.
A Wellington Phoenix spokesman denied the claims and added "we do not comment on players who're contracted to other clubs". However, Newshub understands the Phoenix have been in discussions with Finkler's representatives for weeks, and have made a strong offer which has been accepted.
It would be the second time Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick has raided his former club in recent weeks, following the capture of All Whites forward Kosta Barbarouses from Victory earlier this month.
Finkler, 30, was an integral part of a Victory side which won the A-League and FFA Cup double last season. He joined Melbourne Victory in 2012, and is in the final year of a two-year contract.
