Former All Blacks coach Sir Graham Henry is joining Irish team Leinster on a short-term consultancy role.

Henry, who coached the All Blacks to World Cup glory in 2011, will bring plenty of experience to Leinster's coaching staff.

Current Leinster head coach Leo Cullen said it's important for his players and coaching staff to "look at different wants to challenge ourselves."

"This isn't by any means a first for Leinster Rugby and I felt it was important for myself and the wider coaching and playing staff in Leinster to look at different ways of challenging ourselves," Cullen said.

"To that end I am delighted that Graham has decided to work with us and I would like to publicly thank the Professional Games Board in Leinster for their support with this decision.

"Everyone in the organisation will benefit from his expertise and undoubtedly the coaches and the players will benefit from having a coach of his stature in and amongst us as we build towards the new season."

Leinster currently have New Zealanders Hayden Triggs and Jamison Gibson-Park on their roster, along with former Blues player Isa Nacewa. Leinster also have 12 Irish internationals who took part in the recent Test series against South Africa.

Henry will look up with his new club for a few weeks before the 2016-17 season starts.
