Former world heavyweight champion Hasim 'the Rock' Rahman is set to make an appearance on this shores after signing up for the New Zealand Super 8 boxing tournament at the Trusts Arena in West Auckland.
The 41-year old American is one of five fighters confirmed so far for the knockout event that has a total prize pool of $500,000.
"I chased Hasim after the Tua Cameron fight, but this time I've got him and make no mistake, never before has a boxer of Rahman’s credentials competed in New Zealand," SKY ARENA company director John McRae said.
Three competitors are still to be confirmed for the event which has been described as a night of knockouts and explosive 3x3 minute rounds with $80,000 knockout incentives
